Race report and results

Yet another glorious day in what is beginning to seem like one of those endless summers everyone reckons to remember as a kid. The river's limpidity has been excellent of late and it was even what might be described as mild, which is quite something for the Derwent. So, with that and a accutane healthy dose of inspiration from all the Commonwealth Games triathlons these last few days, expectations were high.

Comparing times of those who did it last year, something good was playing into everyone's hands with individual and relays both being won noticeably quicker.

There were a few novices out there too putting in some heroic performances and, remember, time and effort don't necessarily equate, so well done to everyone whether it was a speedy whizz round or a determined effort further back.

Thanks go to those who helped out and to Willersley Castle for letting us into their big garden, and to Derbyshire Dales District Council for the use of Derwent Gardens and the crags. Also to Racing TNT for bringing along the wetsuit hire.

Apologies for a couple of missing split times. The timekeeper had to attend to a something unexpected and missed them.

Most of all, we hope you enjoyed your visit to Matlock Bath and felt fit, strong, righteous and virtuous after leaving the race, sitting in the holiday traffic admiring the bellies, tattoos and the general glamour of Matlock Bath's other type of visitor!
